Meet Dr. Jessica Wangerin
When Dr. Jess helps others, it pours energy back into her, so she’s sure this is the right career choice for her. So many people are surprised at how awesome chiropractic is. It’s fun to see when they realize they should have done this a long time ago!
A Journey to Health and More
Dr. Jess has firsthand experience with the healing power of chiropractic. Early in her college years, she began having tightness in her chest on the left side, and numbness and tingling down her left arm. She went to the ER a few times, believing she was having a heart attack, but the tests were all normal. For two years, Dr. Jess saw numerous doctors, tried multiple medications and procedures, and continued to be told her results were normal. Many close to her began to think that she was making it all up.
Luckily while working, a fellow waitress in her hometown of St. Louis overheard her describe her symptoms. A student at Logan College of Chiropractic, the waitress convinced Dr. Jess to get an adjustment. She knew nothing about chiropractic but she did know that the medical system had failed her. So, she agreed.
While on the table being adjusted for the first time, Dr. Jess felt a whoosh, like a rush of blood flow, energy, or something go down her left arm. When she got up, she could breathe and move better. That was the beginning of a long journey into holistic healthcare and chiropractic. With a double major of Biology and Psychology, the pivot to pursuing chiropractic as a career actually made a lot of sense.
Dr. Jess graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Psychology. She then enrolled in Life Chiropractic College West, earning her Doctor of Chiropractic in 2017. Right out of school, she opened her first chiropractic practice in Berkeley, California named Ginkgo Chiropractic & Sensory Development Center. Starting from virtually nothing, she built this practice into a multi six-figure practice with 6 employees including 3 chiropractors. Although extremely proud of this beautiful, thriving practice, she knew that the Oakland/Berkeley area was not her forever home. In 2021, Dr. Jess and her husband moved to Sonoma County and in 2022 she started Featherstone Family Chiropractic in Sebastopol, California. Dr. Jess is loving serving this community and feels much more at home.
In 2024, Dr. Jess and her husband welcomed their first child, Taison, and he is the absolute light of their lives. In that same vein, her eyes were opened to all that parenthood/motherhood entails and she has become passionate about helping mothers establish their breastfeeding journey as well as help little ones thrive. Dr. Jess is certified in the Webster Technique for prenatal chiropractic , and is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). She is specifically trained in Infant Cranio-Sacral including intra-oral work in order to best support breastfeeding success as well as proper developmental growth.
Realizing Her Potential
Before being adjusted, Dr. Jess was unaware of the power that the body has to heal as well as the necessity to take care of it. She knew very little about holistic health care, and her journey has led her to feeling healthier every year she gets older, instead of the opposite. She’s passionate about helping others find their way to health with natural, holistic care, from wherever they are in their journey.
Outside the Practice
Dr. Jess remains active in the Sonoma County Women’s Soccer League, both indoor and outdoor. She regularly hikes and backpacks with her husband, goes running, and spends time working on projects in their fixer-upper home. Gardening, cooking & all things nutrition are also passions of hers as she hopes to someday help everyone grow their own kitchen gardens, providing home-grown, self-sufficient food for all. Being an involved, present mom is also at the forefront of Dr. Jess’ life and she’s enjoying all the ups and downs that motherhood brings.
